I earned income in Ontario, how do I add my relevé 1?
This post only applies to 2016 and later versions.
If you live in Québec and work in Ontario you may have received a relevé 1.
If your relevé 1 is for the same income as your T4 (in other words, the amount in box A of your RL-1 is similar to the amount in box 14 of your T4), answer “Yes” to the question “Did you receive a corresponding RL-1 for this income?” and enter the relevé 1 information in the slip that appears below.
If your relevé 1 only includes other amounts (for example, the amount in box A is equal to the amount in box J), enter this as a separate relevé that corresponds to a nil T4 from Ontario. Here’s how:
If you live in Québec, work in Ontario, and received a relevé 1:
Answer “Yes”, you received a corresponding relevé 1.
For the next question (Is the income from box 14 included in box A?), if your relevé 1 is for:
- your total employment income (e.g., the amount in box A is similar to the amount in box 14), answer “Yes”.
- only taxable benefits (e.g., the amount in box A is much lower than the amount in box 14), answer “No”.
Enter the amounts from your relevé 1 slip in the section that appears below the T4 slip.
