I earned income in Ontario, how do I add my relevé 1?

This post only applies to 2016 and later versions.

If you live in Québec and work in Ontario you may have received a relevé 1.

If your relevé 1 is for the same income as your T4 (in other words, the amount in box A of your RL-1 is similar to the amount in box 14 of your T4), answer “Yes” to the question “Did you receive a corresponding RL-1 for this income?” and enter the relevé 1 information in the slip that appears below.

If your relevé 1 only includes other amounts (for example, the amount in box A is equal to the amount in box J), enter this as a separate relevé that corresponds to a nil T4 from Ontario. Here’s how:

If you live in Québec, work in Ontario, and received a relevé 1:

  1. Answer “Yes”, you received a corresponding relevé 1.

  2. For the next question (Is the income from box 14 included in box A?), if your relevé 1 is for:

    • your total employment income (e.g., the amount in box A is similar to the amount in box 14), answer “Yes”.
    • only taxable benefits (e.g., the amount in box A is much lower than the amount in box 14), answer “No”.
  3. Enter the amounts from your relevé 1 slip in the section that appears below the T4 slip.
